We will create an assignment viewer in Assignments to view and interact with the assignments

User Stories:

  • As a student, I want to reference the learn video as I am completing an assignment from that same lesson, so that I can review the concepts I need to understand to complete the assignment

  • As a younger student, I want to see a more colorful UX with simpler language, so I can better understand what I need to do

Acceptance Criteria:

  • Given I am a student in grades Early Intervention, Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5, I will see the younger student UI

  • Given I am NOT a student in grades Early Intervention, Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5, I will see the older student UI

  • Given I am a student viewing an SEL or Mental Health interactive activity, non-interactive activity, or quiz, I will see the Video button

  • Given I have clicked the Video button, I will be taken to the video player screen for the learn video associated with the same lesson as the activity/quiz

  • Given I have not yet submitted this video to my teacher, I will see the option to tell my teacher I’m done. Clicking this button will return me to the activity

  • Given I have submitted this video to my teacher, I will see the done button. Clicking this button will return me to the activity/quiz

  • Given I have clicked the back button on the video player, I will return to the activity/quiz

General Concept

UI

  • Once the student selects an assignment card with a resource or interactive worksheet from the Overdue, Today, and Later sections or from the Lesson scope thumbnail views, they will see the same activity displayed in the assignment viewer

  • The Go back button will return the students to the section or location where they clicked on the assignment whether that is the Overdue, Today, or Later areas or the lesson scope areas

  • The title in the top left hand corner will correspond with the tagged subtitle for the interactive worksheet

  • The right arrow will only show if there are 2 or more pages to the worksheet and the left arrow will only show when their are previous pages to access

Business Rules

  • Students assigned to gradesEarly Intervention, Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 will see the younger UI version

  • Students NOT assigned to grades Early Intervention, Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 will see the older UI version

  • Students will have the option to view the Videos associated with the interactive worksheets, non-interactive resources, and quizzes and then return to the same assignment viewer upon completion

Video

UI

  • We will add a video button to the upper nav.

  • If the student clicks on the video button, they will be taken to the video player. From here, the student can watch the video just as they do elsewhere. Upon completion of the video, the student will either see the tell my teacher I’m done message or the you already submitted this message.

  • If the student clicks the “Tell my teacher I’m done” or “Done” button, they will return to the activity

  • If the student clicks the back button, they will be taken back to the activity

Business Rules

  • If the student clicks on the video button, they will be taken to the Learn video for that same lesson. For example, if I am viewing the Tier 1 & 2 Grade 3 Emotions Practice 1 activity, I will be taken to the Tier 1 & 2 Grade 3 Emotions Learn video.

  • If I am viewing the video & have already submitted it to my teacher (and it has not been reassigned to me - i.e. it is not due), I will see the message telling me that I already submitted the video assignment.

  • If I am viewing the video & have not yet submitted it to my teacher, I will see the message asking me to tell my teacher I’m done.

Save

UI

  • The save button will show a success message once their work has been saved Kara Michelle Liu Add these images.

  • No change to business rules. Just adding a success message.

Done/Submit

UI

  • Once student click done/submit, a confirmation message deploy checking whether they are ready to send the assignment to their teacher. If they select no, the confirmation message will close leaving them on the interactive worksheet screen. No change for older students, but we will update the UI for younger students.

  • If the student selects Yes to send it to their teacher, they will be taken to the View Completed Assignment screen, which will work just as it does now.

  • The feedback/message panel will also be updated for younger students. Functionality will not change. This is a design update only.

Business Rules

  • No change to business rules. Just a design update for younger students version.
