SEL Tab: Features and UI Explanation
Overview
When selected, the SEL tab (varieties of SEL) is underlined and highlighted in blue. The default view is the current year. The SEL tab is only present if the student is in grades 3 through 12. The SEL tab will not show for students in grades K-2. Calculations for Tier groups are slightly different depending on the grade level of the student. See Admin Settings SEL Tab for more information.
In order to collect data for determining SEL Tiers, the SEL Self-Assessment must be assigned to the student(s). This can be done within MTSS Dashboard by selecting the blue Assessment button located in the upper right corner.
Note: It is known that SEL Self-Assessment can only be assigned to individual students within the MTSS Dashboard. Stay tuned for future development regarding SEL. |

Page Contents: Graph and Chart
Graph Overview:
The graph represents data for the RethinkEd Student Self-Assessment. As the year progresses, assessment results are added to the graph for a total of two assessments (Fall and Spring).
The title of the Assessment is at the top left within the graph and reads: Student Self-Assessment.
The Key shows the selection of Tiers established in the Admin Settings SEL Tab. The District Level Admin User can select the Tiers for each of the Benchmark names BUT not change the Benchmark Names NOR the ranges in scores for the Benchmarks.
The Key includes Benchmark Names (Very high, High, Average, Low, Very low) and the accompanying score ranges for each. The text shown in the Key is also in color to represent each Tier Level. Since there are more Benchmark Names/ Score Ranges than Tier Levels, there can be multiple Benchmark Names/score ranges in each Tier.
Blue is Tier 1
Yellow is Tier 2
Red is Tier 3
The Graph shows a scale ranging from 0 to 100 with intervals of 10. The colors within the graph (blue, yellow, red) correspond to those in the Key so that the User has a visual marker for each Tier Level. The students score(s) will show as a bar label by the assessment taken. The bars represent an Total Score for the Student Self-Assessment.
Note: The scale of the graph (0 to 100) is not a percentage. It is a total score. Since there are differences with grade bands, a percentage would be an additional calculation that was not included for MVP. The graph was created to show the same range (0 to 100) so that there is visual consistency among the tabs. It is not possible (in any grade band) to reach 100 with the SEL Self-Assessment. |

Hovers are located over the bars (Fall and Spring Assessments) that show the student’s Overall Score when the User hovers over or clicks on a bar.
Chart Overview:
The Chart below the graph shows more comprehensive information than the graph with the documentation of sub-set scores and the accompanying benchmark label. Additional information guides Educator’s decision making for assigning SEL content based on the student performance within each sub-set.
The Chart headings include:

There is some variety to the chart headings based on the SEL variety the District uses. (SEL, Wellness, Life Skills and Wellness, etc.)
