Sprinting Roles and Responsibilities (DRAFT)

 

Product Manager/Product Specialists

Primary driver of the backlog refinement meeting 

Co-driver of sprint retro/planning meeting, verifies team capacity, presents goals, confirms acceptance criteria

Primary point of contact for customer-facing teams. Makes the call on interrupts/priority thereof. 

Contributes to release notes/documentation 

Communicates release/launch items to stakeholders and epic progress and health to leadership team 

Driver of Product Roadmap and communicates company and product priorities

 

Engineering Manager/SCRUM Master

Moderate the sprint daily stand-up keeping things on track 

If necessary, fill in for the product manager or team lead during DTO/leave 

Monitor and present the team metrics for the sprint 

Monitor sprint progress and collaborate with product on interrupt work 

Spike/tech design approval 

 

Engineering Team Lead 

Assists in leading retro 

Organizes show and tell 

Run the Story Plan sessions during planning 

Active participant in tickets 

Spike/tech design approval 

 

Developers 

Demo work during show and tell 

Participate in story point poker (if used)

Ensure desk checks for the UI are scheduled for tickets that involve a workflow related change (this is done during refinement) - communication needs to be between product/developers for timeline for any changes etc.

 

QA 

Review EPICs and User Stories to ensure the acceptance criteria, end-user workflows, and regression risk is clearly documented before committing to tickets 

Participate in story point poker (if used)

Write Test Plans and review with the team during Desk Checks 

Discuss/Review End- to -End automation plan

Communicate DTO and develop a plan during absence for coverage so sprint goals are met
