Overview

The Review modal within the RethinkEd platform allows educators to evaluate and provide feedback on student assignments. This modal includes student details, lesson/module metadata, assignment responses, and a discussion panel for communication.

Feature 193776: Manage Assignment

UI Description

  1. Modal Layout:

    • The review modal should be prominently displayed, overlaying the main interface.

  2. Modal Header:

    • Modal Heading Title: Review

    • 'Print', 'Save To File Cabinet', and 'Mark As Reviewed' buttons should be easily accessible for quick actions.

      • Print: Keep existing functionality. Print will print the submitted student assignment.

      • Save to File Cabinet: Keep existing functionality. User will select “Save to File Cabinet”, select a folder in the modal, and upload to the file cabinet.

    • A 'Close' icon should be present to exit the review modal.

  3. Modal Body Information:

    • Student's name should be displayed at the top of the modal below the Review header.

    • If the assignment has a score, such as a quiz, the score and percentage will show right aligned to the container

    • Lesson or Module Title and date (Mon DD, YYYY) display below student name

    • Metadata details display: Subject, Domain, Main Topic, Assignment Title, Grade, Tier(s)

    • A distinct section that shows the student's responses, marked answers, and score percentage.

  4. Discussion:

    • The discussion panel to the right side of the modal, allows users to type messages and communicate with the student.

    • The discussion panel should include a text area input field that expands as the user types and a 'Send' button for messaging.

      • The student will receive an inbox notification in the student center for the assignment discussion.

User Interaction and Validation Notes

  1. Assignment Review:

    • The educator opens the review modal by selecting an assignment from the Needs Review interface.

    • Educators can view the student’s responses and selected answers, with correct and incorrect selections indicated.

  2. Communication:

    • In the discussion panel, educators can type messages to provide feedback or request further information from the student.

    • The system should validate that the message field is not empty before enabling the 'Send' button.

    • The discussion panel should include a text area input field that expands as the user types and a 'Send' button for messaging.

      • The student will receive an inbox notification in the student center for the assignment discussion.

  3. Action Buttons:

    • Clicking 'Print' initiates printing the assignment review.

    • 'Save To File Cabinet' stores the review for later reference.

    • 'Mark As Reviewed' updates the assignment's status to “View” in the list and notifies the student accordingly.

      • User selects “Mark As Reviewed” button and button changes to “Reviewed”.

  4. Closing the Modal:

    • The educator can close the review modal by clicking the 'Close' icon, returning them to the main Needs Review interface

    • After completing the review process, selecting Mark As Reviewed changing button to Reviewed, and saving, the user returns them to the main Needs Review interface.

Workflow Description

  1. Opening the Review:

    • Educator selects an assignment to review from the list, which opens the review modal.

  2. Evaluating Submissions:

    • The educator reviews the student's responses, taking note of the correctness and any patterns in the responses that may indicate the student's understanding.

  3. Utilizing Discussion:

    • The educator uses the discussion panel to give personalized feedback or to engage the student in further dialogue about the assignment.

  4. Completing the Review:

    • After reviewing and providing feedback, the educator marks the assignment as reviewed and may choose to save or print the review for record-keeping.
