Learn how to update your Tricare funder settings to enable Military time formatting in your billing export as required by Tricare West.

Good to Know

  • On your Tricare West funder, click 'View” then “Edit”

  • On the popup, scroll below the Funder address and check the box “Convert Session Times to Military Time (Billing Export)”

  • Ensure the box for “Kareo-Report Appointment Times on Service Line' is checked, so that the Claim Line note field of the Billing Export will populate with the converted military times.

  • Fulfills Tricare West’s Requirements for Session Times on claim to be in Military Format

  • Users can hover over the Question Mark icon for explanation of the two check box options:

  • Payor requirements can change, so always keep up to date and know your payor’s rules.

  • On Billing Export - Session times will be converted to military format for the specific funder in column K “Claim Line Note”.

  • There will be no reporting of ‘AM’ or ‘PM’ after the time in the Claim Line Note column.

  • The claim line note will meet the requirements for military time reporting on claims.

  • Combine charges settings should be reviewed and updated to meet the requirements of your Tricare funder.

  • “Don’t combine charges”, when checked, will ensure that each separate appointment will display on your Billing Export as a separate claim line.

Combine Charge Rules: Tricare West and Tricare East now require sessions to be reported by each unique appointment and NOT combined by Rendering Provider. This means that each session should be it’s own individual line within your claim (even if rendered by the same clinician at different times for the same patient), for example:
