What?

We need to reconfigure our tables to store new norms every year while also preserving the norms for previous years. For instance the 2023-24 school year norms, would pertain to that year only.

Rationale:

First, we only update the norms before the start of a new testing cycle, usually during a down period in the summer.  This keeps the norm consistent throughout the school year.  those years.

How?

When customers look back at historical data, the norms are preserved for each of the years.

We would also need to work out a schedule.  For example, it could be as simple as:

  • By 6/1/23, Rethink posts a data file of students from August of 2022 to May of 2023

  • By 7/1/23, ERB computes score conversions and norms and posts updated tables

  • By 8/1/23, Rethink loads norms and gives ERB access to test them on the Rethink platform

  • By 8/15/23, Rethink launches new norms for the 2023-24 school year.
