Expand 1:1 consultations to global audience by leveraging language interpreters

📙 Background

  • Clinical team to partner with 3rd party language interpreter service (TeleLanguage) to allow for consultations in 200+ languages by leveraging interpreters to join consultations

  • Allow users to choose from 200+ languages

  • If BCBA speaks chosen language natively, no change

  • If BCBA does not speak chosen language natively, then BCBA will reach out to add interpreter to call

  • Product need to include desired language field to consultation scheduler pop-up

  • User can choose from 200+ languages offered by interpreter service

  • Language info must be included on consultation emails, consultation sessions on Expert page and Therapist Portal, and calendar invite

User story

As a parent, I would like to meet with a BCBA even if I don’t speak their native language, so I can have access to this resource to help me with parenting issues.

Target Users

  • Must have Parenting Coaching enabled and an active parenting coaching contract

    • i.e. Speak With a Parenting Expert enabled

  • Must have feature flag enabled

Experts Page

Schedule a Call

  • List of all languages: Interpreter Languages

  • On consultation scheduler (Schedule a Call pop-up), add search field at top for “What language do you prefer?”

    • User can search for a language

      • Results should populate as they type

      • Default to last chosen language

      • If no previous session, then default to Settings language

    • If user chooses English, show default order (current logic)

    • If user chooses Spanish, French, Mandarin

      • Show the BCBAs that speak that language first on the “Who would you like to speak with?” dropdown first, followed by default order

      • Spanish: Carmen Torres Diaz, Vivian Escobar, Yulema Cruz

      • French: Pasha Bahsoun

      • Mandarin: Sophia Liu

    • If user chooses any other language, show default order (current logic)

      • When a user selects any BCBA, display text next to BCBA field

      • Should read “Will include language interpreter” and info icon

      • When user hover over text or info icon, show full text

      • Text: An interpreter will join your consultation session to ensure we provide the support you need in your preferred language.

Upcoming and Past Sessions

  • On Upcoming and Past Session cards, show language

  • On Upcoming and Past Session pop-ups, show language

Email Notifications

  • On consultation scheduled and rescheduled emails, add the following line after first paragraph

    • Preferred language: [chosen language]

  • On consultation canceled email, add the same line after Parenting Expert line

Calendar Event

  • On calendar event, add the following line in the event description

    • Preferred language: [chosen language]

Therapist Portal

  • Add column for “Language” on Schedules page

  • Add search field for “Language” on Schedule Session pop-up

    • Default to last chosen language

    • If no previous session, then empty

  • Add selection for “Language” on Notes pop-up

    • Same logic as above

  • Language should be based on what user chose on consultation scheduler

    • If no chosen language (i.e. feature is disabled, then do not show any language)

JRich Configuration

  • Must have feature flag on product and team level

  • Enabling feature flag will add section on consultation scheduler for desired language

  • Disabling feature flag will hide section on consultation scheduler for desired language

    • Language fields on emails, sessions, calendar should be hidden (same as existing logic)

    • If hiding is complex, then language default to English

📈 Reporting

  • Need to add language field to existing consultation report so clinical/product can see instances per language
