Step One: Open the tool

Design

  • In the behavior area, users may click a button to open the Point System tool. They must select a classroom. WHAT DOES THIS LOOK LIKE?The user will have the option

  • The first time a user clicks to record a behavior for an individual student, a classroom, or a group.

  • Users may only select 1 option: Classroom, Group, or Student

  • If a user is not assigned to any classrooms or groups, they will not see these options

  • If a a specific classroom, they will need to select if they would like to use the defaults, copy behaviors from another classroom, or start from scratch.

Business Rules

  • Users with permission to Record Points and access to Behavior Support will see the Point System tool as an option.

  • Users will only see classrooms to which they are currently assigned

  • Admins will see all classrooms

  • If entering from behavior area and the user is not assigned to any studentsclassrooms, they will see a message stating “It looks like you have not been assigned to any studentsclassrooms. Please visit Account Setup Classrooms or contact your account administrator for support.” Hyperlink to classrooms area.

  • If entering from a student area, users will only see classrooms to which both they and the student are currently assigned.

  • Users with permission to Edit Behavior Settings will see the Let’s get started screen. Users who do not have permission to edit behavior settings will bypass this step.

  • Let’s get started screen will only show if no behaviors have yet been recorded for the classroom and no selections have yet been made. Meaning, if a user edits the behavior list but does not record any behaviors for any student in the classroom, this message will no longer show.

  • When the user clicks “Use default behaviors,” they will be taken to a screen that shows all of the default behaviors

  • The user may click the X to remove the behavior from the list

    • When the user adds a custom behavior, they will need to enter a behavior name, behavior category, and point value

    • If the user clicks the X, the behavior will be removed.

  • We will show the behavior categories set by the district. These can only be changed by highest level admin roles, and can only be changed in account setup.

  • The user may enter a custom behavior name

  • The user must select a pre-existing behavior category

  • The point value will default to 1 point, but the user may adjust this to any positive point value

  • Negative behaviors cannot have a point value associated. The points box will be set to NA and cannot be changed.

  • We will not allow any negative point values.

  • Point values can be set to 0 or higher.

| Copy Behaviors

Design

  • When the user clicks “Copy from another classroom,” they will need to select which classroom they are copying the behaviors from

Step Two: Select who to record data for

Design

  • Once the user has selected a classroom, they will have the option to record a behavior for an individual student, the classroom, or a group.

  • If the user selects Classroom, they will record behavior for the entire classroom. This means any behavior selected will apply to all students in the classroom (unless the student is marked as absent)

  • If the user selects group, they will see a list of available groups. Once a group is selected, they will record behavior for the entire group. This means any behavior selected will apply to all students in the group (unless the student is marked as absent)

  • If the user selects student, they will see a list of available students. The behavior will be recorded for the selected student only.

Step Two: View Record Screen

Design

  • Once a user makes a student/classroom/group selection, they will see a list of all behaviors

  • Each behavior will show an icon for the category it belongs to. JEN - ADD THE ICONS.

  • Icons for positive behaviors are green (#00A79E)

  • Icons for negative behaviors are red (#ED633B)

Business Rules

  • We will show all behaviors currently set for the classroom

  • If recording for an individual student and no classroom was selected, we will show the default list of behaviors)


Step Three: Allow users to change the date

Design

  • The user may click on the word “Today” to open a calendar and change the date.

Business Rules

  • Users may not record data for a future date, but may record data for any date in the past.


Step Four: Change Classroom

Design

  • When recording data for a student, the user may click the classroom name and select a different classroom for the student

Step Five: Add Custom Behavior

Design

  • If the user clicks “Add Custom Behavior,” they will see a screen row of boxes where they may enter the behavior name and , select the behavior category, and adjust the point value for the behavior

  • If the user clicks Add behavior again, another row will appear so the user may add another behavior.

  • If the user clicks the X, that behavior row (and any information entered) will be removed.

Step Five
  • The point box will default to 1 point. The user may change this to any whole number greater equal to or greater than 0.


Step Six: Record Data

Design

  • Clicking on the + next to the behavior will record the behavior for those selected. Each time this button is clicked, the number in the box will go up. For example, if I click the + 5 times, the box will show the number 5. Alternatively, users may click in the text box and type in the number of times the behavior was observed. Users may also use this box to edit the data.

    • If an individual student is selected, the behavior will be recorded for that student

    • If a classroom or group is selected, the behavior will be recorded for all students in that classroom or group

  • When the + is clicked, the user will see the number of points awarded. This will show for 5 seconds and then fade. The user may click the button multiple times to record multiple occurrences of the behavior. The frequency of the behavior will show in the text box (i.e. click twice and the box shows the number 2). Alternatively, users may click in the text box and type in the number of times the behavior was observed. Users may also use this box to edit the data.

  • If the user clicks the - button, they may reduce the frequency of the behavior. Each time this button is clicked, the number in the box will go down. For example, if the box shows 10 and then I click the - 5 times, the box will show the number 5. The user may also type in the box to correct a mistake.

  • Points and behavior frequency will not be saved for the student until the user hits save.

Business Rules

  • Users can tap a behavior multiple times to record the behavior more than once.

  • Users can record behavior based on permission settings for all students they currently have access to

  • When recording for an individual student, the behavior is only tracked for that student. Points are also applied to that student. For example, if the user records the behavior Helping Others (weighted at +2 points) with a frequency of 2, we will track 2 behaviors for Helping Others and 4 total points.

  • When recording for the classroom, the behavior is tracked for all students in the class. Points are also applied to all students in the class. For example, if the user records Helping Others (+2 points) for the Classroom, we will track 1 behavior of Helping Others for each individual student in the class. We will also track +2 points for each individual student in the class.

  • When recording for a group, the behavior is tracked for all students in he group. Points are also applied to all students in the group. For example, if the user records Helping Others (+2 points) for Group 1, we will track 1 behavior of Helping Others for each individual student in the group. We will also track +2 points for each individual student in the group.

  • Users may edit/delete frequency count based on permission settings JEN - ADD THIS IN ONCE TEAM REVIEWS PERMISSION SETTINGSwith permission to Record Points will have the ability to add/edit the frequency of each behavior.

  • The user cannot record a negative occurrence of a behavior. The - button should not show if the frequency is currently 0.

Seven: Record a Note

Nine: Save and View Summary

Design

  • When the user clicks Save, the behaviors will be recorded and a summary screen will appear for 5 seconds.

    • The box will show INSERT NUMBER OF BEHAVIORS the number of behaviors saved for INSERT STUDENT FIRST AND LAST NAME. Undothe student (will show student first and last name). We will also show an Undo button.

      • Clicking Undo will delete the data the user just entered and will return them to the record data panel.

      • If the user does not click Undo after 5 seconds, the message will disappear, the data will be saved, and the panel will close.

      • If the user does not hit undo within this time frame, they will need to delete the data from somewhere else (view points?). Still working this part out. We’ll need a way to easily navigate from record points to view points.

    • This box will also show a summary panel of all behaviors recorded for this session. The summary will show the following:

      • Behavior Category Icon

      • Behavior Name

      • Instances

      • x Points

      • Total Points (per behavior)

      • Total Points
