Step One: We need to allow users to track behaviors/award points via:

  • Behavior Area

  • Classroom Area

  • Group Area

  • Student Area

Behavior Area

Design

  • In the behavior area, users may click a button to open the Point System tool. WHAT DOES THIS LOOK LIKE?

  • The user will have the option to record a behavior for an individual student, a classroom, or a group.

Business Rules

  • ADD PERMISSIONS

  • Users may only select 1 option: Classroom, Group, or Student

  • If a user is not assigned to any classrooms or groups, they will not see these options

  • If a user is not assigned to any students, they will see a message stating “It looks like you have not been assigned to any students. Please visit Account Setup or contact your account administrator for support.” Hyperlink to account setup.

  • A user may only select 1 student, classroom, or group at a time. We will not allow multi-select.

Individual Student Area

Step Two: View Record Screen

Design

  • Once a user makes a student/classroom/group selection, they will see a list of all behaviors

  • Each behavior will show an icon for the category it belongs to. JEN - ADD THE ICONS.

Business Rules

Step Three: Allow users to change the date

Design

  • The user may click on the word “Today” to open a calendar and change the date.

Business Rules

  • Users may not record data for a future date, but may record data for any date in the past.

Step Four: Add Custom Behavior

Design

  • If the user clicks “Add Custom Behavior,” they will see a screen where they may enter the behavior name and select the behavior category.

  • This behavior will be added to the list.

Step Five: Record Data

Design

  • Clicking on the + next to the behavior will record the behavior for those selected. Each time this button is clicked, the number in the box will go up. For example, if I click the + 5 times, the box will show the number 5.

    • If an individual student is selected, the behavior will be recorded for that student

    • If a classroom or group is selected, the behavior will be recorded for all students in that classroom or group

  • When the + is clicked, the user will see the number of points awarded. This will show for 5 seconds and then fade.

  • The user may click the button multiple times to record multiple occurrences of the behavior. The frequency of the behavior will show in the text box (i.e. click twice and the box shows the number 2). Alternatively, users may click in the text box and type in the number of times the behavior was observed. Users may also use this box to edit the data.

  • If the user clicks the - button, they may reduce the frequency of the behavior. Each time this button is clicked, the number in the box will go down. For example, if the box shows 10 and then I click the - 5 times, the box will show the number 5. The user may also type in the box to correct a mistake.

  • Points and behavior frequency will not be saved for the student until the user hits save.

Business Rules

  • Users can tap a behavior multiple times to record the behavior more than once.

  • Users can record behavior based on permission settings for all students they currently have access to

  • When recording for an individual student, the behavior is only tracked for that student. Points are also applied to that student. For example, if the user records the behavior Helping Others (weighted at +2 points) with a frequency of 2, we will track 2 behaviors for Helping Others and 4 total points.

  • When recording for the classroom, the behavior is tracked for all students in the class. Points are also applied to all students in the class. For example, if the user records Helping Others (+2 points) for the Classroom, we will track 1 behavior of Helping Others for each individual student in the class. We will also track +2 points for each individual student in the class.

  • When recording for a group, the behavior is tracked for all students in he group. Points are also applied to all students in the group. For example, if the user records Helping Others (+2 points) for Group 1, we will track 1 behavior of Helping Others for each individual student in the group. We will also track +2 points for each individual student in the group.

  • Users may edit/delete frequency count based on permission settings JEN - ADD THIS IN ONCE TEAM REVIEWS PERMISSION SETTINGS.

  • The user cannot record a negative occurrence of a behavior. The - button should not show if the frequency is currently 0.

Step Six: Record a Note

Design

  • The user may type an internal note on the Internal Note tab. This note will not be displayed to the parent or student. CHANGING LABELS TO AVOID CONFUSION

  • The user may click on the tab called External Notes and type a message for the student and/or parents.

Business Rules

  • Internal notes will not show in the student center or family portal, but will be visible on the staff reports. JEN ADD PERMISSIONS.

  • Notes for the student will show in the student center. Students need to be able to respond with canned responses or free text.

  • Notes for the parents will show in the family portal. JEN ADD PERMISSIONS. Parents may respond with canned responses. Need user feedback.

Step Seven: Complete an Incident Report

Design

  • The user may click on the tab for Incident Report to create a formal incident report.

  • NEED DESIGN

Step Eight: Save and View Summary

Design

  • When the user clicks Save, the behaviors will be recorded and a summary screen will appear for 5 seconds.

    • The box will show INSERT NUMBER OF BEHAVIORS behaviors saved for INSERT STUDENT FIRST AND LAST NAME. Undo

      • Clicking Undo will delete the data the user just entered and will return them to the record data panel.

      • If the user does not click Undo after 5 seconds, the message will disappear, the data will be saved, and the panel will close.

      • If the user does not hit undo within this time frame, they will need to delete the data from somewhere else (view points?). Still working this part out. We’ll need a way to easily navigate from record points to view points.

    • This box will also show a summary panel of all behaviors recorded for this session. The summary will show the following:

      • Behavior Category Icon

      • Behavior Name

      • Instances

      • x Points

      • Total Points (per behavior)

      • Total Points
