ELA Student View

User Story

As a teacher or Admin user who is viewing NWEA MAP Reading Assessment Data, I need to have the same functionality for viewing Tiers, Tier Notices, Approaching and At Risk Indicators, Intervention Plan buttons and assessment data specific to the NWEA Reading test so that I can analyze and take action to help the student grow academically.

UI

ELA Student View Tab

Information Icons

  • To view more about a column heading, user clicks on the information icon.

  • To remove the information dialog box, user clicks on close.

Acceptance Criteria

  • Follow same rules for Tier Notices, Approaching and At Risk Indicators, Intervention Plan button as is built for ELA | Student View | MTSS Dashboard

  • Follow Settings | NWEA for determining Tiers.

  • For full list of fields see: Integrations Fields | NWEA-MAP

  • For grades K-12 include to ensure reporting correct information for each student:

    • Exam- value is Reading

    • Year- values include 2022, 2023

    • State ID- unique to student

    • Enrollment- values include Active and Inactive

    • Last Name-student’s last name

    • First Name-student’s first name

    • Current Grade-list current grade

Demographic Information (From Assessment Data Set)

  • Maybe used to fill filters (not sure which data will prevail for demographics: our Student Information section or demographics coming from data sets-they are different)

    • Gender-values include Female and Male

    • Ethnicity-varies and some may not be the one’s we capture in Student Information

Rename Tab Labels

  • MAP Reading

  • MAP Math

Graph

  • Rename Graph Title to:

    • Map Reading Test Percentile (See image: Student View ELA Tab. Look in graph for the title)

  • Rename Graph Key contents to include:

    • High

    • High Average

    • Average

    • Low Average

    • Low

  • We will include the Tier Level and the Test Percentile range for each of the Graph Key contents (High, High Average, Average, Low Average, Low).

  • We follow Settings | NWEA for determining the Graph Key match up to Tiers.

  • Given user has changed the default settings for Tiers, then we will show the users selections in the Graph Key.

  • Rename labels on x axis to contain:

    • Month test was taken

    • Define school year setting that the test date falls within. (See Define School Year)

  • Given user hovers over a bar, we will show:

    • Test Percentile: Value

    • Overall RIT: Value

Chart Contents:

  • Month

    • values filled by field: Month

  • Define School Year selection (Example: Quarter)

    • values shown to correspond with Define School Year.

  • Date

    • No field for date exists in data set so record the date the assessment results are integrated. (When we see data from another district with NWEA, we may see a scalable field for bringing in the date the student took the test)

    • For West Windsor, another data sheet was provided indicating the dates test was given in the field Administered. This information contradicts the Month field. I suggest ignoring it because it is probably something unique to West Windsor and not scalable. Suggest bringing in the date we integrated their data. The same is true for Math Data.

Information Icons

  • We will show information icons for the following:

    • Test Percentile

    • Overall RIT Score

    • Performance Level

  • Test Percentile reads:

    • Test Percentile (percentile rank) is the overall score a student has achieved. Test Percentile tell where the student scored in comparison with other students in the same grade. For example, a Test Percentile of 90 indicates that the student performed as well as or better than 90% of their peers.

  • Overall RIT Score reads:

    • RIT (Rasch Unit) measures the student’s level of achievement. Rit scores range form 100 to 350 and correspond to one of 5 performance levels.

  • Performance Level reads:

    • The 5 Performance Levels are: High, High Average, Average, Low Average, and Low. Performance levels correspond to a Percentile Range and within that range is the student’s Test Percentile (percentile rank).
